Are you looking for fresh ways to make it through the summer?

We have been experimenting this season and we all agree that there is nothing more refreshing on a hot summer day than homemade lemonade! Cold-pressed lemonade, of course!

And if you have a PURE juicer at your disposal, why not experiment with different flavor combinations and set up your own rainbow-colored spread? With each additional flavor below, we used about 1.5 cups of raw fruit (one wrapped cloth) to produce about 10oz of juice in addition to the lemonade base.

No grinding required.

Ingredients for Base Lemonade

4 lemons
4 cups water
¼ cup of sweetener (agave, maple syrup, honey)

Flavor Variations

Pineapple-Rosemary
Mango
Watermelon-Mint
Raspberry-Nut milk
Cucumber-Mint
Blue Spirulina (1 tsp)
Activated Charcoal-Himalayan Salt (2 capsules)

About the Ingredients

activated charcoal: a fine black powder processed to be very porous. Here it simply gives the lemonade its black color. If you take medication, check with your doctor before using it.

blue spirulina: spirulina, a type of cyanobacteria (algae), is a popular nutritional supplement that is high in protein, B vitamins, copper, and iron, as well as decent amounts of magnesium, potassium, and manganese.

cucumber: cucumbers, especially their nutrient-dense skin, offer antioxidants including flavonoids and tannins. Made up of mostly water, cucumbers are hydrating and refreshing.

himalayan salt: all salt consists mostly of sodium chloride, but pink Himalayan salt also contains up to 84 other minerals. Himalayan salt has less sodium than table salt, but more magnesium, iron, and potassium. So far there are no studies showing conclusive evidence that himalayan salt is definitively healthier than table salt, but if you’re watching the additives you’re ingesting, why not give Himalayan salt a shot?

lemon: high in vitamin C and citric acid, lemons give the lemonade its bright, tart flavor.

mango: high in vitamin C and fiber, mangoes are also high in vitamin B6.

mint: while we don’t often consume large amounts of mint at once, this leaf packs a punch nutritionally, offering fiber, iron, manganese, vitamin A, and folate.

pineapple: delicious and packed with antioxidants, pineapple is a rich source of vitamin C and manganese, and it contains bromelain, a group of enzymes that break down protein.

raspberries: vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and fiber – these little berries have it all. Raspberries are a rich source of potassium and also contain omega-3 fatty acids.

rosemary: a fragrant herb that is high in manganese and contains carnosic acid.

watermelon: high in vitamins C and A, watermelons also contain electrolytes like potassium and a natural substance called l-citrulline. Watermelons are hydrating and refreshing.
